Dear Members and Friends of St James:

NEXT Sunday, April 4 is EASTER! You remember Easter, right? Well, it has been so long since anything related to church has been normal, I wouldn’t blame you for being a little fuzzy about it.

We will worship IN-PERSON next Sunday for Easter! It will be outdoors on the Happy Trails courtyard (under the big pine tree) and it will begin at 10am! This is an experiment and we will see how it works! There will be things that go wrong and that we need to figure out. Please be flexible, patient, and understanding. None of us has done this before! The service will be live streamed online via Facebook as usual, but it will look a lot different! Please plan to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing as we safely work our way back to ‘normal’ worship! After Easter, worship will be offered the next few weeks online. On Easter, we will announce our plans for returning to the sanctuary.

There is a church covenant enclosed. Please read it and sign it and bring it to church with you (when you come to church—whenever that is). Until further notice, face coverings are required when entering any of the church buildings. Unless things change in the next few days, congregational singing is still not allowed. We ask you to meditate on the words of the songs or hum along if you want, but for the safety of all, we ask that you refrain from singing.

We are continuing to offer worship online. Worship is planned for 10am each Sunday morning just. You can go to our website (stjamestucson.com) and click on the box “CHURCH ONLINE” and that will take you to a page with all the details. Or, you can go to our church Facebook page (facebook.com/ sjumchurch) at 10am. We broadcast the video on Facebook Live. You do not need a Facebook account, just a computer or smartphone and an internet connection.

Make PB&J sandwiches at home and bring them to church Sunday, April 11! The sandwiches will be used two ways: some will go in the bags we give out to our homeless friends who stop in for food, and the rest will go to Casa Maria soup kitchen. Go here for all the details: https://bit.ly/3cGJUqs. Feel free to get family, neighbors and friends involved! You can drop sandwiches off between 9am and 1pm.

Our Food Pantry is available and serving many! Each Tuesday from 7am to 4pm, and Thursday FROM 9am to 4pm and 5:15pm to 7:15pm, our church food pantry is open. It can be accessed by calling the office (327-5989), or by coming to the church. If you need food assistance, we are happy to help. If someone you know (friend, neighbor, relative, co-worker) needs food assistance, we want to help. If you want to donate items to the food pantry, you can do that during the Tuesday/Thursday hours and usually on Sunday until 1pm. A list of items we need is at https://stjamestucson.com/food-pantry-2/

Good Friday Worship Each year, we join with Northminster Presbyterian Church and Tucson Chinese Baptist Church for an ecumenical Good Friday Service. This year, the service will be offered online. You can find the details at https://bit.ly/3d817cJ. The service will be online at 12 noon on April 2.
