This Sunday (December 31), we kick off with Rembrandt. Rembrandt was one of the greatest painters in European art history and the most important in Dutch history. For most of his career, Rembrandt was commercially successful, and enjoyed a very comfortable lifestyle. But before he died, he experienced a great reversal of fortune, and there were only two paintings in his studio. How can the course of Rembrandt’s life inform ours? We’ll talk about that this Sunday at 10am!
Our January service opportunity will Sunday, January 28 from 2-4:30pm. We will harvest citrus fruit for Iskashitaa Refugee Fruit Harvesters. Here is how this works: we will go to the homes of people with citrus trees and pick the unused/unwanted fruit. This fruit (which would have otherwise gone to waste) is distributed to over 20 different agencies in Tucson (including the Community Foodbank) and to refugee families. This project is open for all ages. If you have fruit pickers, bring them. We also need pickup trucks to carry the fruit and equipment. All info, a sign up form, and some photos of past harvesting can be found here:
